In 1962, with the Law No. 165 “Law on the opening of a new technical school in Zonguldak”, the Mining Technical School, whose building construction started in Zonguldak, was transformed into the State Academy of Engineering and Architecture with the Law No. 1184 while the building construction was continuing. According to Law No. 1184, the academy, which included the Mining, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering Departments, was transformed into the Faculty of Engineering consisting of the Mining and Mechanical Engineering Departments with the Decree Law No. 41 enacted in 1981, and was affiliated to Hacettepe University on 20.07.1982 under the name Zonguldak Engineering Faculty. Upon the establishment of Zonguldak Karaelmas University in 1992 with Law No. 3837, the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering, which forms the basis of the university, has reached today.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering trains Mechanical Engineers, one of the most preferred professions in Turkey and in the world. Mechanical Engineering covers a wide range of fields including energy, fluid mechanics, control, mechanics, design, automotive and manufacturing. Mechanical Engineers design machinery and mechanical systems, engines, control systems, energy systems, medical equipment, and tools and equipment used in many other fields. They are involved in the production of advanced materials, metals and machine tools. Above all, Mechanical Engineering is one of the professions with the most important contribution to design, simulation, improvement and more efficient and economical use of energy resources in the world we live in. Without Mechanical Engineers, the world we live in would be different.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Department of Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program covers a 4-year education after an optional 1-year foreign language (English) preparatory class education. Secondary education is also offered in our department. During the eight semesters (4 years), students are required to take and pass the compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum and complete 2 25-day summer internships.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Department of Mechanical Engineering at the graduate level; It trains Master Engineers and Doctoral Engineers with its master's and doctoral programs.
